The Court is easy to find: it would almost be harder to avoid stumbling across at least a couple of the birds huddled here and there about the Nexus. After a few days they seem to have settled into a small area of the plaza around their chosen seats, and only go out of their way to pester anyone who wanders into that little territory. Night brings quiet, but certainly not sleep. They aren’t ordinary birds, after all. Any intruder who makes that mistake soon finds these crows can see quite well in the dark.

On the other hand, they’re equally keen-sighted when it comes to spotting mortal allies. At any hour, those bearing gifts will be met with lofty greetings and open bills. And there is one mortal whose return they await with particular eagerness…
